OK so we have another puppy (6 months old). If you remember we got Ghost last Christmas. Well she didn't make it to our move. 1st - we were renting, 2nd - she was too big to be in a house with hardwood floors, 3rd - had way too much energy not to be able to just run, run, run and 4th - she got on mommy's nerves being so destructive. So Ghost is now loving life on a farm somewhere in Elizabethtown. But the boys asked again if they could have a puppy. So daddy and the boys went to the humane society and rescued our newest little addition. Meet Halo. We think she is an Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) with maybe a little Australian Shepherd too. She is a perfect fit. Very, very calm, small, and minds extremely well. She is smart also. We had the kennel from Ghost that we were going to use to keep her in while we are at work. She said "Riiiigggghhhhtt. I ain't staying in a small wire cage, you all are crazy!" She was able to get the door on the kennel open in less than 5 minutes - 4 times straight. 3 times she wiggled the latch and opened the top part of the door enough to squeeze out, the 4th time I'm not sure how she got out because both the latches on the kennel door were still latched! However, we still put her in it and put the kennel in the garage the first day back to work and school thinking well if she gets out she'll still be in the garage and it'll be ok. Halo said "That's what you think. You Humans are so gullible." The door leading from our garage into the house has a handle you simple push down on in order to open the door. Oh, did I mention she could jump like a jack rabbit with its bottom on fire? Yeah, she can. We put our baby gate up to keep her on the tile floor in the bathroom the first night and uh, yeah, well, she cleared it from a standing still position. Didn't climb it, didn't take a running start, just jumped right over it. OK back to the door. It was closed when we left and it was open when we got home. She was laying in the living room in her puppy bed. Happy as a lark. Didn't bother anything. She had jumped up and pulled down on the handle to open the door. Mistakenly maybe but done all the same. And the boys absolutely ADORE her. She had to go to the vet last week and was there for 4 days, if I heard it once I heard it a dozen times. "Mommy, I miss Halo." I have to get a shot of either M or G in her puppy bed with her. So we had to buy another kennel, one that you need apposable thumbs to get open, we're safe until she grows thumbs. (I think she's working on it as I type this. LOL)

We had a great time bringing in the New Year! Our next door neighbor had a New Year's Eve Pajama party. Everyone wore their pajamas. They have a son a couple of years older than M. and a daughter a year older than G. The whole family put on our pajamas and rang in the new year. We all had a great time and loved just walking home one house over and going straight to bed!!!!!

This year was such a blur - so why should Christmas be any different. This is the first time in the last 3 or 4 years that we didn't have Christmas at our house. We usually drove home late on Christmas Eve and then to Nana and Pappa's on Christmas Day, but that was impossible this year so since Nana and Pappa had never seen the boys have Christmas with Santa we decided to be at their house on Christmas morning. (Up until G. was 2 we had Christmas morning with my in-laws). Now, since I started my new job less than 6 months ago, I was not eligible for vacation time HOWEVER we were going home for Christmas! So I took two days without pay. My employers only give Christmas Day off for a holiday. That meant I took the 24th and the 26th off from work. We left as soon as I got home on the 23rd and drove to Grandma's, went straight to bed, got up, had breakfast and our Christmas with Grandma, Uncle J, Aunt G. and their family, got dressed up, went to Aunt Barbara's house for dinner, the reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and Christmas with the extended family. Then we left for Nana and Pappa's house. That meant we were with them less than 24 hours. : ( We arrived at Nana and Pappa's house, got ready for Santa, went to bed, got up (early) to see what Santa brought, had Christmas with them, had a little down time. The next day went to Mamu's to see extended family, that evening went to a high school basketball game were daddy use to work. The next day went to meet my brother-in-law and sister-in-law as well as 5 cousins and their spouses to attend a UK basketball game and have dinner (cousin's dinner is an annual occasion but usually occurs before Christmas but see above, we didn't have a before Christmas with them). Then on Sunday traveled back home. Whew! Like I said a blur. But the kids had a great time and they must have been really good again this year because they got all kinds of good stuff from Santa.

M.
performed at his school's Thanksgiving Day program. He told a Thanksgiving joke. "Do you know what is in pumpkin pie?" Answer: "Your teeth!" LOL.
On Nov. 9th my husband's father passed away from cancer. He was a wonderful dad, father-in-law, and Grandaddy. He will be missed.

Trick or treat! Mutant Ninja Turtle and the White Power Ranger. (Why do costumes come with a mask? I always end up carrying them before we ever get to the first door.)
August 20th - a great day. We moved into our home. I drove back to our home in Kentucky on Aug. 17th and met the movers at our old house (that we still own by the way) on the 18th. They loaded everything up. I put a few things in my car and drove back. We spent two nights in sleeping bags and on an air mattress in the basement of our home (yes we wanted out of the Extended Stay) and the movers arrived on the 20th. YEAH. (and G. was home sick with me when they arrived.) He thought the big truck was cool. So did mommy - it had all our STUFF!

Remember in an earlier post I was telling you about staying in the "Hotel Tipton"? Well, as soon as we moved, the boys started school, I started my new job and we could not move into the house we were renting. So for two fun filled weeks, we lived at an extended stay, or as the boys referred to it - "Hotel Tipton". G. started Kindergarten and here are pictures of the first day. Now how many people can say they have a photo of them on their first day of school taken in a hotel! (Lovely shot of the table AND sink with the boys!) LOL. (It was kinda fun and I didn't have to clean a thing.)
